Cameron Smith makes a comeback and takes The British Open on a one-shot margin

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland St. Andrews, Scotland Cameron Smith charged his way

into the history books at the Old Course in a stunning Sunday

performance on the course at St. Andrews that sent the Australian to his first major victory

by beating Rory McIlroy to win the British Open.

And it wasn't an ordinary Great White frightening the field.

Smith was the star of the show

scoring five straight birdies in the second nine before providing more clutch shots at the close.

The putt was not enough, and neither did anything McIlroy could do.
